Rising seas have washed away roads and homes along the shore — and even destroyed a sea wall that once protected the community. These photos show the damage Dame Marie is living with today.
Clean water
Miles to walk for water
Dame Marie has no running water. Families walk for miles to collect water from a natural source known as “Nan Bòs” — a daily hardship that falls hardest on women and children, and a serious risk to their health.
Safe, accessible water close to home would transform daily life in Dame Marie. It is one of the community’s most urgent needs.
